RICHMOND BEACH ROOST
Nestled in the rolling hills of Richmond Beach, this family home unfolded as a multi-phase renovation, beginning in the kitchen and extending through the entry, great room, guest bath, and primary suite.
Key moments include a folding pass-through window connecting the kitchen to the outdoor dining area—keeping the cook seamlessly engaged with the gathering—alongside striking quartzite slab countertops, a custom dining banquette with antiqued mirror detailing, and a floor-to-ceiling fluted marble fireplace surround.
Dumpling, the Bernedoodle, is reportedly quite pleased with the end result.
The great room features a vaulted ceiling and exposed ridge beam, so we leaned into the volume with a floor-to-ceiling fluted marble fireplace surround. To create continuity throughout the home, the same charcoal cabinetry carries into the dry bar, where details like corduroy-textured glass doors, brass hardware and lighting, and a rustic zellige tile backsplash add depth and character.
Rumor has it the new wood-burning insert is hubby’s new favorite feature.
The kitchen began with a clear directive: moody charcoal gray cabinetry. From there, the owners entrusted us with the creative freedom to shape the design.
Luci de Luna quartzite wraps the counters and backsplash, bringing a soft, organic counterpoint, while a glazed brick detail at the range adds depth and texture.
High-performance appliances are seamlessly integrated throughout—complete with a full-size wine refrigerator (of course).
Careful attention was given to both the primary and guest baths on the home’s main floor.
In the primary bath, space planning was key—combining two small, disjointed closets into one generous primary and opening the bathroom to create a cohesive, spa-like retreat. Smoky grey-green handmade tile sets the tone, while a honed marble vanity and tailored trim details add a note of quiet, tuxedo-like sophistication.
The guest bath, designed for the two young ladies of the house, brings in a sense of playfulness with a touch of whimsy.
